Public bug reported: Ubuntu hardy heron alpha 5 updated
I'm using Sony Ericsson W810i, a mobile phone which uses Memory Stick PRO Duo as a memory card. I believe that a bug causes slow transfers, even though the mobile phone is USB2 compatible. I plug it in the usb, and start transferring files. After about 10 files, it starts to slow down and pops up the file operation. It would be great if this phone could reach its maximum transfer though, because as it is now, I need about an hour to finish the transfer and cache the files (when I unmount the volume). I get some weird errors in dmesg when I use it: $ dmesg [...] [78315.895125] sde: sde1 [78315.909038] sde: p1 exceeds device capacity [78315.911044] sd 7:0:0:0: [sde] Attached SCSI removable disk [78315.911078] sd 7:0:0:0: Attached scsi generic sg5 type 0 [78315.966446] attempt to access beyond end of device [78315.966451] sde: rw=0, want=959338, limit=958999 [78315.966453] Buffer I/O error on device sde1, logical block 958848 [78315.966456] attempt to access beyond end of device [78315.966458] sde: rw=0, want=959339, limit=958999 [78315.966459] Buffer I/O error on device sde1, logical block 958849 [78315.966461] attempt to access beyond end of device [78315.966462] sde: rw=0, want=959340, limit=958999 [...] [78316.318502] attempt to access beyond end of device [78316.318503] sde: rw=0, want=959487, limit=958999 [78316.318505] attempt to access beyond end of device [78316.318506] sde: rw=0, want=959488, limit=958999 [...] Someone would think that I don't have enough space, but the free space on the memory card after I'm done transferring is 45MB. I've attached several log files: dmesg /var/log/dmesg /var/log/syslog lspci lspci -nnv lsusb lsusb -v I hope they are helpful. P.S. This has been happening in Ubuntu 7.10 as well, but I haven't noticed the errors until now. ** Affects: ubuntu Importance: Undecided Assignee: Ubuntu Desktop Bugs (desktop-bugs) Status: New -- "attempt to access beyond end of device" when transferring data to sony ericsson w810i memory stick https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/199580 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a bug assignee. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
