Binary package hint: gedit
I am using Ubuntu Gutsy with XFCE4 Desktop Environment.
In gdm screen, I choose my default language English(US), and here is my `locale`

When I open a Chinese text file with gedit, it cannot properly recognize
the GBK coding (or cp936, euc-cn coding), and I can only see broken
characters. Also, Menu->Tools->Set Language... does not contain the
Chinese language options, leaving alone all English ones. However, under
Chinese(zh_CN.UTF-8, Chinese mainland) environment, gedit works OK, and
can display both GBK and UTF-8 correctly. By the way, GVIM works fine
when I set "set fileencodings=euc-cn,cp936,utf-8".
