It would be good if we can do some benchmarking of the screensaver hacks. Some hacks use a lot of CPU on some computers because the 3D acceleration partially fails on specific graphic cards and falls back to software rendering. This is in many cases a bug in the drivers and should be identified and fixed.
Can you all please have a look at the tests on https://wiki.ubuntu.com/X/Screensavers ? Test results, improvements and comments are welcome, just add them to the wiki page. ** Changed in: gnome-screensaver (Ubuntu) Status: New => Confirmed -- screensavers cause high CPU usage https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/174191 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a bug contact for gnome-screensaver in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
