I was about to write in and say that I hadn't seen this bug for a while anyway. I tried to re-create it a couple of times and failed. Then, for some reason, I remembered that I have switched to using desktop effects. For a lark, I turned off desktop effects and tried again, and I experienced the bug again. Also, I am running Xinerama on NVidia. I'm not sure whether that has anything to do with it, but it might because desktop effects "fixed" it for me.
