Comment: I have the opposite problem. Trash applet 2.12.1 on Breezy shows a "full icon" and "2 items in Trash" tooltip even though it's empty. Rightclick and empty trash doesn't help. ls -al ~/.Trash or nautilus show no contents apart from . and .. Removing and putting back the applet solves the issue.
