Comment: Just to give a bit more info which might help someone looking into this I have got my box again working with the ati driver @ 1920x1200 ! I had to disable dri support, oh well. I have access to a Fujitsu Lifebook E8020 which is also running dapper using a X600 using the ati driver at 1400 x 1050 (iirc). I will have a play with it when I get a chance. It seemed to be running with dri support on a 2.6.15-16-386 kernel.
