This problem is not restricted to Avant Window Navigator (http://launchpad.net/awn). I have my top panel set so that it doesn't autofill, and I have hidden my bottom panel.
The problem is a bit difficult to explain, so I have taken a series of screenshots illustrating the issue. 1. http://www.meidomus.com/images/gnome-panel/1.png This is what I see when I initially login, you can see the current settings in the properties window. The panel should be on the top, but for some reason it thinks this location is the top of the screen. 2. http://www.meidomus.com/images/gnome-panel/2.png Here I have set the orientation to 'Right'. 3. http://www.meidomus.com/images/gnome-panel/3.png After setting it to 'Right', I have set it to 'Bottom'. If you compare this screenshot with the first one, you will see that the panel has moved down, even though it is set to 'Bottom'. If I repeat steps 2 and 3, the panel keeps shifting down. 4. http://www.meidomus.com/images/gnome-panel/4.png >From screenshot 3, I have set orientation to 'Top' (no effect), but after clicking 'Expand' I get what you see there. 5. http://www.meidomus.com/images/gnome-panel/5.png Finally, after unchecking 'Expand' I am back to my initial settings before I logged out. As a side effect of this, if *any* item in the panel is unlocked, all items in the panel will be moved around (even the locked ones -- like the notification area). To solve this, you have to explicitly set all items on the panel to be 'locked'. -- Gnome Panel doesn't remember "hide" setting https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/152815 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a bug assignee. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
