I can confirm that bug. The GTK+ print support is explicitly disabled in debian/rules [1]:
[...] DEB_CONFIGURE_EXTRA_FLAGS := \ --enable-python --enable-default-binary --without-print [...] Enabling print support would be a great improvement of the user experience in using GIMP in Ubuntu.
