Public bug reported: Binary package hint: nautilus
Nautilus seems to take a lot of memory to show icons of PCX file format. Opening a directory with 6 files pictures at PCX format and nautilus consume about 600MB, 100MB by file to show it in icon view. The memory can overload and the system crashes with a message like 'can't allocate memory to fork' ProblemType: Bug Architecture: i386 Date: Wed Oct 24 22:14:34 2007 DistroRelease: Ubuntu 7.10 ExecutablePath: /usr/bin/nautilus NonfreeKernelModules: vmblock vmci vmmemctl vmxnet Package: nautilus 1:2.20.0-0ubuntu7 PackageArchitecture: i386 ProcCmdline: nautilus --sm-config-prefix /nautilus-W6M8mh/ --sm-client-id 117f000101000119290681900000073090001 --screen 0 ProcCwd: /home/vincent ProcEnviron: PATH=/usr/local/sbin:/usr/local/bin:/usr/sbin:/usr/bin:/sbin:/bin:/usr/games LANG=fr_FR.UTF-8 SHELL=/bin/bash SourcePackage: nautilus Uname: Linux vincent-desktop 2.6.22-14-generic #1 SMP Sun Oct 14 23:05:12 GMT 2007 i686 GNU/Linux ** Affects: nautilus (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: apport-bug -- Nautilus crash by memory overload with PCX file pictures shown as icons https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/156829 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a bug contact for nautilus in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
