Thanks for your bug. We use a corner because they are easy to aim with
the mouse. Placing 2 icons to a corner defeat that purpose. The corner
you want to use already has the trash applet so it would do the trick.
The dialog has a cancel button which is the default action so a wrong
click doesn't hurt. Anyway if you want to discuss that a list is
probably a better place than a bug tracker, few people will go and
comment on a bug to give their opinion
