+1 from me too! I was using Rhythmbox quite happily with my PC speakers until I had to switch to using earphones. The earphones push out much less low- frequency than the speakers - the resulting sound quality just isn't good enough.
I really tried to find a solution - the Rhythmbox developers on the mailing lists seem to reject a Rhythmbox-specific equalizer in favour of a system-wide equalizer. Unfortunately I couldn't find either.
