Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome

after todays update (sept. 15 - on gutsy 7.10 tribe 5, previous update 13th)
starting immediately after the update i have the error:

There was an error starting the GNOME Settings Daemon.

Some things, such as themes, sounds, or background settings may not work
correctly.

The last error message was:

Did not receive a reply. Possible causes include: the remote application
did not send a reply, the message bus security policy blocked the reply,
the reply timeout expired, or the network connection was broken.

GNOME will still try to restart the Settings Daemon next time you log in.
---
the screen has another theme (blue/grey - which may be set by kubuntu?)
kubuntu is installed on another partition, but with the same /home. therefore i
have the kubuntu preferences in this account.

there is a general need to arrange that xubuntu and kubuntu preferences
do not interact.
