Dell XPS 410 ubuntu model, duo core, 2 gig ram. Running restricted NVIDIA drivers, compiz, and emerald themes. I am dual booting Fiesty and Gutsy with Gutsy on a separate 500 gig drive. Feisty works fine except that monitor will not power off in Compiz after timeout. In Gutsy, when I try to restart x with ctl-alt-bkspace, it blanks all of the panels and hangs with the desktop background showing. At this stage, it will not respond to anything, total lockup. I can power down with the power button and it boots back up fine. In normal operation, I can shutdown, but restart locks up the system. In Feisty, I can run metacity to get the monitor wo work properly in power management mode, but in Gutsy, if I try to replace Compiz with metacity, I end up with white screens and lockup. ** Affects: gnome-desktop (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: Confirmed -- [gutsy] Gnome restart does not work in Tribe-5 https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/134809 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a bug contact for gnome-desktop in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
