I disabled gnome-volume-manager and restarted... Well oddly enough, gnome-session-remove --list still showed the volume manager as having been executed, so I ended it but the startup continued to stall.
Just as I thought... It's a graphics problem. This bug might be referring to something else, but I think the author is simply mistaken...
