Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gdm

On a tribe 2 system, GDM now always seems to place the UserAuthDir to
/tmp. I did not (yet) modify /etc/gdm/gdm.conf. For reference, it reads
like this:

UserAuthDir=
# Fallback directory for writing authorization file if user's home directory
# is not writable.
UserAuthFBDir=/tmp
UserAuthFile=.Xauthority

When I log in, my XAUTHORITY Variable is set to:
>> echo $XAUTHORITY
/tmp/.gdmQS4MUT

This is a very annoying behavior if I ssh on that machine and want to
use the local X11 display, because I then have to merge X11 credential
forth and back.

** Affects: gdm (Ubuntu)
     Importance: Undecided
         Status: New
