Comment: Note that I upgraded from -ubuntu1 to -ubuntu2 between the previous two posts. FWIW, I checked the i386 package (running ldd on the executable on my x86 breezy system) and it doesn't have a dbus dependency. Maybe this problem isn't with gnome-session itself, but is a dependency of one of the libraries it's linking? Can we compare my ldd `which gnome-config` output with a powerpc user's whose gnome works? BTW, startx doesn't work any more either because /etc/X11/Xwrapper.config is mode 600, so I don't even have the nostalgic fallback to mucking with .xinitrc anymore...
