The problem is: storage.cdrom.dvdplusrdl = false (bool) storage.cdrom.dvdplusrw = false (bool) storage.cdrom.dvdplusr = false (bool) storage.cdrom.dvdram = false (bool) storage.cdrom.dvdrw = false (bool) storage.cdrom.dvdr = false (bool) storage.cdrom.dvd = false (bool) storage.cdrom.cdrw = false (bool) storage.cdrom.cdr = false (bool) i. e. hal does not recognize the properties of your CD-ROM. Can you please do the following: - Send me the output of python cdcaps.py /dev/scd0 (I will attach cdcaps.py here) - Send me a hal debugging output, as described on the second half of http://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingRemovableDevices.
