Comment: This wish is also related to CJK users' IMs, and recently Korean IMs called nabi and imhangul were fixed this issue with supporting im-switch. No user setup required for native locale, if under different locales just type one line of command is enough to set them up like this "im-switch -s nabi". scim will have same thing in near future AFAIK. Please refer the BetterCJKSupport spec on the wiki for detail. By the way, curious about which IM?
