Jay, Thanks for the reply. I thought it was checking against blacklists. I had assumed (for years) that it was an RBL test. I was going nuts trying to find a list the IP was on. It is fixed now. I had a typographical error on an in-addr.arpa entry. Even weirder, I had noticed and fixed the issue before I sent my original post. The caching only name server on the mail server had not picked up the change and I did not connect the two issues. Bummer.
