It's a
very good point Keith (and Dave). I only commented on the OS
licencing; as it is the only software I knew of that
enforces licencing which is CPU dependent.
I've
also run into the hyperthreading licencing problem with SQL server, and can
confirm that it is a paper licence as is noted in the quote you've
included, i.e. there is no enforcement of the number of CPUs
recognized.
