Thanks for the info. I didn't see anything in the News.* or changelog*
files about this: I think it needs flagging up to save people who don't
have the time to follow all the frequent changes around xorg.conf -> hal ->
udev -> xorg.conf ->....

I seem to have some xorg.conf clauses working for the various
trackballs, and I imagine that I will need to do the same for a
Synaptics touchpad on a netbook.

To save others the time and trouble, I am happy to make them available
to others. I could add them to an existing bug (probably the one on
trackballs). Or should they appear as examples in one of the packages?
