That probably won't work with too recent kernels (2.6.34-ish). 2.6.33 should be OK, though (2.6.33 DRM bits were merged into Debian's 2.6.32). Why? That has to do with nouveau ABI and what's supported by the kernel, see debian/patches/03_revert_abi_change.diff in libdrm's source package. (I hope I'm not totally mixing things up, too.)
