I think that using the last upstream commit is best.  Bug reports in
Debian contain the package version which gives us all information, and
if somebody reports a bug upstream it is better not to give the false
impression that they have a current version when it is in fact horribly
outdated (from upstream's POV).

I reworked the get-orig-source target to include it in the upstream
tarball, which nicely complements your change to add it to the
debian-experimental branch. :-)
