Running X server, and then running an SDL application results in a crash of the entire X server in case a window manager is not started. Example use case: I am writing a login manager, and the easiest way to open graphics surface (to me) is by using SDL. As soon as SDL launches, the server crashes. This does not happen when using Xephyr, so I conclude this is probably a bug in the Intel drivers. Repro steps: >From tty console, perform these steps: 1. X -ac :1 2. DISPLAY=:1 abuse.sdl Possibly related: Running window manager such as metacity, then killing it, also results in a crash with same backtrace. This is blocking me from developing this ultra-cool-hyper-neato login manager, since if I run a window manager and then don't kill it, gnome-session will happily do it for me and the end result is the same: crash of the entire X server.
