I pointed my deb-src to lenny to get the old xserver-xorg-video-mga. Then I did: apt-get -b source xserver-xorg-video-mga and dpkg -i xserver-xorg-video-mga_1.4.9.dfsg-1_i386.deb to install what was built. If that is what you mean by build against the 1.6 server, then it didn't change anything. It still didn't work. If I have to do something different, let me know.
