i've done some tests and in *all* cases the machines boot successfully
the X server. but there are cases where it fails: sometimes when going
from console mode to graphics mode the machine completely freezes;
sometimes it is enough to logout the X session and gdm freezes.
i saw that all 30 machines in the lab had the same hardware but it is
not true: most of them are Intel Corporation 82845G/GL[Brookdale-G]/GE
Chipset Integrated Graphics Device rev 1, and some of them (the ones
that usually fail) are the same but "rev 3" instead of "rev 1".
so our plan now is stay with lenny next course (september to june) and
throw the "rev 3" machines to /dev/null ;-)
so if you want to close this bug, feel free to do it since we are not
going to use the problematic graphic cards. but if you prefer to keep
it open and tell me what you want me to test i'll try to find some
spare time.
