Thanks for the hint. If someones wants to repackage it 2.5.99.1 tag sources package is indeed working fine. Just had to fight again to get my french keyboard working in kdm as my modified keymap.fdi was removed due to new hal package and unfortunately I have a 'a' in my passwd ;-) debian maintainers keep me sure my brain is still working...
