It says that the Xserver created a 2048x2048 virtual screen and your internal panel shows 1440x900 of it. This is what "Virtual 2048 2048" means nowadays. I guess you want the old "Virtual" desktop behavior where moving the mouse to a corner would automatically move the display inside a larger virtual screen? This is not supported anymore in Lenny.
