Now years later people might be looking at the possibility of using xdm in all kinds of devices, e.g., Openmoko telephones.
Some of these devices may not even have a keyboard available to type in one's username and password until after one can spawn a keyboard emulator program, but one needs to already have logged in to xdm to do that -- or whatever. In other situations, e.g., for a operating system on a children's toy, even with xvkbd or whatever available, it just wouldn't make sense to demand authorization from the child, etc. Anyway, please provide a way to "autologin" to a given username. I'm guessing the implementation would be quite simple: In some file if the line Autologin holmes is detected, then bypass the whole login window sequence, continuing beyond it as if 'holmes' had successfully logged in. (Indeed, perhaps just bypassing a large part of the xdm code.) Even though kdm, gdm, etc. might provide an autologin feature, they might be more bulky than xdm, and therefore undesirable on tiny devices. (No need this year to implement timeouts in case one wants to login as someone else, etc.) -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe". Trouble?
