Would be nice to get the log : without either -dpi 100 or DisplaySize in xorg.conf, though, since the : values detected seem pretty sane.
I have removed the "DisplaySize" statement from /etc/X11/xorg.conf and removed the -dpi 100 from /etc/X11/xdm/Xservers, and the xdm login screen looks very fine now. So I guess you can close that bug as non-existent. Sorry for that fuss. The DisplaySize was originally required to make some Qt program survive under Etch. But I just verified, and the Qt program starts fine as well. Sorry for the fuss. I guess one should let all hardware rest for a year before starting to operate it ...
