Unfortunately not anymore. The main complaint was about no screens being defined. I started to re-install the unstable versions, and while doing it, I realized the warnings about not configuring the xserver-xorg-video-ati package due to unsatisfied dependencies. After that it is obvious X will not start, so I did not redo the test installation. If restoring the package state was easily accomplished, I might like to do experiments like that, but now I have feeling of uncertainty about whether I can fully restore the package installation status or not.
