The reason for switching was Xorg taking much memory after 7.3 upgrade (1G resident within a week). > Does Option "HWCursor" "off" help? (in the Device section of xorg.conf) I'll try that when my swap is full with xorg again. Sorry, but experimenting with this machine is a bit dangerous, because it occasionally crashes then and I really need it to work, so this'll take a bit. I hope I can find some time for reinvestigating my other xorg bugs soon and hopefully marking them as unreproducible.
