Have been getting this crash recently, applied the 'remove keyboard
configuration' hack - this worked temporarily. Upon changing layout
options, started crashing again.

Steps to reproduce:

* Start with a clean keyboard/kbd configuration -- this can be achieved
with the command `gconftool-2
--recursive-unset /desktop/gnome/peripherals/keyboard/kbd'

* Modify the keyboard layout options to enable "Menu is Compose" and
"Meta is mapped to the Win-keys" (This may not be neccessary, I have
altwin:meta_win set to True in my xorg.conf, so this is set implicitly
to on in the layout options). Other flags may also work.
This will not immediately crasht his X server, but starts working.

* Log out and back in to GNOME desktop. Upon auto-starting
gnome-settings-daemon (presumably while G-S-D is loading the Xkb
settings), X server crashes.

This has so far resulted in 100% reproducability for me (amd64 kernel
and libraries).

Regards,
        Francis
