In latest versions of our packages, xserver-xorg recommends libgl1-mesa-dri, so the recommends is kind of already here on the technical side... Is there anybody out there that want to use direct rendering without having X installed? Also it would create some sort or circular dependencies since -dri already depends on -glx...
