It would be good to know which exact upgrade of a Xorg packages between these 2 dates causes your problem. For instance, if you just upgrade xserver-xorg-core and/or your video driver, does the problem appear as if you upgrade all packages in 2006/09/21? Also, is there a chance you try a current Debian testing system? All these Xorg packages are outdated nowadays. The problem might be completely gone these days. Please send the whole output of /usr/share/bug/xserver-xorg/script 3>&1 so that we see your whole hardware and software config.
