It translates to something like Window manager warning: Failed to read the theme "Clearlooks": Failed to find a valid file for the theme Clearlooks AFAIU Clearlooks is a GNOME theme and I don't have it installed. > Even I can't read German anymore Not surprising since it's Swedish :-) > > ~$ kde-window-decorator& > > [2] 22238 > > [EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ kde-window-decorator: Could not acquire decoration > > manager selection on screen 0 display ":0.0" > > Is this really the way to start compiz in kde ? doesn't a plain 'compiz > --replace' or something like 'compiz --replace kde' work ? That was pulled from some howto on the web... Another problem here is the lack of reliable documentation. This is what "man compiz" says: "If the package compiz-gtk is installed, the wrapper will automatically start the gtk-window-decorator." This seems like a bug to me. In fact I have compiz-gtk, but only because compiz depends on it. Marcus
