1.0.9755-1 is the first version of nvidia-glx uploaded (whether in experimental or unstable) since the introduction of xserver 1.3.0 (both in experimental and unstable) and it contains a nvidia_drv.so, so it seems likely.
I guess you could forward the question to the nvidia-glx maintainer for confirmation if you want (I can't find the versions of nvidia-glx between 1.0.8776-4 and 1.0.9755-1 to check).
