Latest nv driver is xserver-xorg-video-nv > 2.0.2 currently in unstable. I don't know. Is there any indication that upstream thinks they've made changes that might fix this? I looked around some for the upstream changelogs in the Debian packages, but couldn't find them. > > Upstream released 2.0.96 since then, but I don't think it matters for > your problem. > > We have at least one other reported hang on the NV driver > http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=370709 > and a couple candidates upstream > https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=6161 The previous 2 bugs both look different from mine, because they say it was working and then locked up when they used the scrollbar. I got instant death.

The followups seem to be all over the map. One peculiarity of my experience was that the problem used all CPU in one case and then very little on a later try. Both conditions required a reboot, though. Of course, any of the bugs might have the same underlying cause; the exact symptoms might vary with the hardware. Too bad both the upstream bugs remain open. Ross -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe". Trouble? Contact [EMAIL PROTECTED]
