Thanks for the notice. I just enabled PageFlip again and did a quick test (running /usr/lib/xscreensaver/gears and causing some OSD action in front of it). Without PageFlip I noticed that gears continued to run just fine while with PageFlip on it slowed down considerably, but did not crash. I will keep this setting now for a while and see if it is indeed stable. So I guess that bug #385366 might be fixed. Bug #386989 needs some more testing with 3D apps. By the way: Which setting is supposed to be better (as in faster)? PageFlip on or off?
