The modesetting version of i810 runs successfully on my system. It conflicts/replaces the standard i810 driver (file names are the same). The initial gdm login screen flickers a lot on my LCD screen but is better once logged in. penguin racer performs fine. Swapping to virtual console, the display of the virtual console is corrupted, but returns back to X with no trouble.
Changing the driver name to "i810-modesetting" instead of "i810" (as in i810-modesetting_drv.so instead of i810_drv.so, etc) is not trivial since the driver appears to contain internal tables under the name "i810" so it does not recognise "i810-modesetting". At least, it will take more than just a filename change. Uploaded initially to experimental. If happy, we could push it to unstable instead. Feel free to alter the description if required.
