My problems with testing experimental X.Org are now gone, so I could test xkeyboard-config 0.8. As shown above, Maintainer field has been set to XSF. THis is an important change, XKB files have been moved into /usr/share/X11/xkb. Until all applications are fixed, the easiest way to have a working environment is to set a symlink /etc/X11/xkb -> /usr/share/X11/xkb.
