I also tried ssh from putty on a Windows-box, but it kept giving an
error and shutting down putty after accepting username and
password. Apparently putty writes an error log with the exact error
message, but it was nowhere to be found. I gave up searching after 30
mins, and hard-booted the Debian-box instead.
