Thanks to the sage advice on using the evdev protocol/driver properly I was able to get xserver-xorg 6.9.0.dfsg.1.3 working fairly well except for a few minor issues already mentioned such as the arbitrary o and p on horizontal scrolling.
However it seems, at least in my case, that with the upgrade to 6.9.0.dfsg.1.4 my button 2 (the scroll button pushed in) which happens to also be the universal xserver 'paste' button seems completely vanished. No amount of manipulation of xmodmap, xbindkeys, or even compiling the evtest.c code running evtest /dev/input/mx1000 would allow this key to function for me. I realize with the ground up rewrite of 7.0 that provides super modularity that this will all by moot and keep hoping to see the debs entering experimental soon so i can at least move on to the next set of issues that seem to engulf this driver with every version upgrade.:) Anyone else having similar issues with their mx1000?
