Reading #334721 you stated that you don't want to add "xlibmesa-dri | libgl1-mesa-dri" because x-window-system-core should contain the core X.Org packages. Nevertheless you already have a "xlibmesa-gl | libgl1-mesa-dri" dependency. So why not make it easier for those who want to use the mesa packages and and also add this alternate dependency on libgl1-mesa-dri to xlibmesa-dri. I know that you can remove the meta-package but I agree with the OP that I normally like to keep such important meta-packages like x-window-system-core installed.
