I looked in /usr/X11R6/lib, and there was no symlink from libXxf86vm.so to the libXxf86vm.so.1 library file. Once I created this link, my program linked correctly. Links of this type seem to be missing for other libXx* libraries. This installation is rather fresh (about a week). I installed sarge, and then dist-upgraded to testing. -- System Information: Debian Release: testing/unstable APT prefers testing APT policy: (500, 'testing') Architecture: i386 (i686) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/bash Kernel: Linux 2.6.12-1-686 Locale: LANG=en_US, LC_CTYPE=en_US (charmap=ISO-8859-1) Versions of packages libxxf86vm1 depends on: ii libc6 2.3.5-8 GNU C Library: Shared libraries an ii libxext6 6.8.2.dfsg.1-11 X Window System miscellaneous exte libxxf86vm1 recommends no packages. -- no debconf information --------------------------------------- Received: (at 347505-done) by bugs.debian.org; 11 Jan 2006 06:43:48 +0000 >From [EMAIL PROTECTED] Tue Jan 10 22:43:48 2006 Return-path: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Received: from mail.imfi.kspu.ru ([80.250.188.156]) by spohr.debian.org with esmtp (Exim 4.50) id 1EwZi0-0003r0-FB; Tue, 10 Jan 2006 22:43:48 -0800 Received: from localhost (localhost.localdomain [127.0.0.1]) by mail.imfi.kspu.ru (Postfix) with ESMTP id 7039137D6; Wed, 11 Jan 2006 13:43:42 +0700 (KRAT) Received: from mail.imfi.kspu.ru ([127.0.0.1]) by localhost (mail.imfi.kspu.ru [127.0.0.1]) (amavisd-new, port 10024) with ESMTP id 17801-15; Wed, 11 Jan 2006 13:43:37 +0700 (KRAT) Received: from localhost.localdomain (h154.imfi.kspu.ru [80.250.188.154]) by mail.imfi.kspu.ru (Postfix) with ESMTP; Wed, 11 Jan 2006 13:43:37 +0700 (KRAT) Received: from localhost.localdomain.imfi.kspu.ru (localhost.localdomain [127.0.0.1]) by localhost.localdomain (Postfix) with ESMTP id AF43BD718F; Wed, 11 Jan 2006 13:43:36 +0700 (KRAT) Date: Wed, 11 Jan 2006 13:43:36 +0700 Message-ID: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> From: Eugene Konev <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Cc: Debian Bug Tracking System <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Subject: Re: Bug#347505: libxxf86vm1: No /usr/X11R6/lib/libXxf86vm.so In-Reply-To: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> References: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> User-Agent: Wanderlust/2.15.1 (Almost Unreal) SEMI/1.14.6 (Maruoka) FLIM/1.14.7 (=?ISO-8859-4?Q?Sanj=F2?=) APEL/10.6 Emacs/22.0.50 (i486-pc-linux-gnu) MULE/5.0 (SAKAKI) MIME-Version: 1.0 (generated by SEMI 1.14.6 - "Maruoka") Content-Type: text/plain; charset=US-ASCII X-Virus-Scanned: amavisd-new at imfi.kspu.ru X-Spam-Checker-Version: SpamAssassin 2.60-bugs.debian.org_2005_01_02 (1.212-2003-09-23-exp) on spohr.debian.org X-Spam-Level: X-Spam-Status: No, hits=-6.0 required=4.0 tests=BAYES_00,HAS_BUG_NUMBER autolearn=no version=2.60-bugs.debian.org_2005_01_02 X-CrossAssassin-Score: 2 You need a -dev package to link against a lib. apt-get install libxxf86vm-dev -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe".
