Hi, I'm having a similar bug (or maybe the same).
In my case my xorg.conf was generated with X -configure, and was (and is) working fine with xserver-xorg_6.8.2.dfsg.1-9_i386.deb, and with the today apt-get upgrade it did broke xorg. There are ppl saying that Xorg is using 99% of CPU, but in my case that didn't happened. In my case Xorg just dies, and the screen keeps blank (black?). My transportable graphic board identify itself with vendorId 8086 and deviceId 24d7, which means ATI Mobility M10 or ATI Mobility Radeon 9600 Pro or ATI Mobility 9700 (don't ask, I don't remenber which and in true I think I never did). I don't think the problem is with the config files as the -configure option don't work as you can see by the log bellow. Any other information I can give you just ask. Thanks you all, mpneves ---------- Forwarded Message ---------- Subject: Bug do Xorg Date: Thursday 05 January 2006 22:18 voyager:/usr/X11R6/lib/modules/drivers#X -configure _XSERVTransSocketOpenCOTSServer: Unable to open socket for inet6 _XSERVTransOpen: transport open failed for inet6/voyager.camelot.co.pt:0 _XSERVTransMakeAllCOTSServerListeners: failed to open listener for inet6 X Window System Version 6.9.0 (Debian 6.9.0.dfsg.1-1 20051229045140 David Nusinow <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>) Release Date: 21 December 2005 X Protocol Version 11, Revision 0, Release 6.9 Build Operating System: Linux 2.6.14-2-686 i686 [ELF] Current Operating System: Linux voyager.camelot.co.pt 2.4.27-mppe #1 SMP Seg Jun 20 14:18:32 WEST 2005 i686 Build Date: 29 December 2005 Before reporting problems, check http://wiki.X.Org to make sure that you have the latest version.
