While the stuff currently sitting in the repo won't produce a functional modular server package, I've just managed to build one with this commit! Many thanks to Daniel for his help in this. Since RC2 comes out in a few hours, this weekend I'll throw the full tarball in to the repo and make sure the server itself can be built with what we've got in here.
