        In short? I do not know.

        I tried to compare both Makefile's, from the X.Org build and from my 
build. 
The former comes from an Imake template, and it is completely different from 
the latter.

        In fact, it has more options at least, the most important the 256-color 
one. 
But I could not infer the configure options from the Imakefile.

        I posted the configure line as I am not a heavy user of xterm and I 
want that 
David and Thomas get a look into it, and all of you try the -0pre1 package  
and report any problem.
