Note in particular, "(EE) VGA(0): Depth 16 not supported by this driver". Hardware is Jetway 830CH motherboard with SiS730S chipset, with integrated VGA. On-board VGA memory is actually set to 16MB in the BIOS. Fedora Core 2 produces perfectly good display on this system, at 1024x768 pixels, "millions of colours" (presumably 24-bit). Red Hat 7.2 produces usable but incorrectly positioned display, at 1024x768 pixels, 16-bit. Would you like any files from these systems for comparison?
