Just FYI, if the package changelog doesn't say the nv driver hasn't been patched since -7, you can be pretty confident that you won't see a change in behaviors specific to the nv driver. At present no one seems to have any suggestions for moving forward, and it's an open secret that the only people who can maintain the nv driver are the folks at NVidia. Maybe they just don't care about older hardware that much any more. -- G.
